It is a beautiful spot here. The air is cool and smells of the woods. We've both commented how early it feels here in the mornings. By that I mean that at 8am it feels dark and early--like 6am back home. Not much moves until 9am (which feels like 7)! Enjoy the photos from Covadonga. Next stop, Ribadeo on the coast.

... saying. We were at La Playa Franca and it was BEAUTIFUL!! I call it “where the mountains meet the sea”. I have never seen anything like that before, so it was very amazing to me. The mountains were literally going into the sea. We spent an hour taking pictures and exploring and just soaking in all of the beauty.

... the mountains following the river Cares. Although it is only possible to see the river occasional due to it being too far below the path it is possible to hear it. The walk is about 24 kilometers there and back. Approx 16 miles. We have never been on such a spectacular walk. The path clings to the cliff face hundreds of meters above the gorge and burrows through solid rock. It is very difficult to describe adequately.

Walked around town a bit, then headed back to the pension to pick up my backpack before heading off to the bus station. Coincidence - I would be sitting in seat #38, the same seat number from yesterday. I hoped for another coincidence - that the bus attendant today would also be Maria, and if not, that it would be someone equally as beautiful!

... me sometime this week and sometime next week since I am leaving the week after and need my transcript when I leave. After that I went home and started looking up stuff in Madrid for my last few days. It just so happens that May 1st is some kind of holiday so all the hotels are full or charging super high rates for several days afterwards. ... to eat at Burger King and warm up a bit. I will never do that again. It cost over 5 euros for a double cheeseburger, and that was the cheapest meal available! I also stopped at several other shops on the way home to warm up. They we all packed because of the parades. That was pretty much it. I went home and watched a little TV before going to bed. I am so glad to have TV, it really helps my Spanish and gives me something to do so I am not so bored.

... 20 minutes and never once saw a taxi so I finally went to the information desk and got the phone number to call a taxi but when I called no one answered so I just went back to waiting. Soon after that a taxi came and picked some people up but I thought they must have called it. A few seconds later a few more taxis came and so I ran out and got in one and went to the residence hall.
