Jericoacoara: Muito arenoso, ventoso e turistico

... I am sure that there are many people here who do not go to see them, or any other part of Brazil whilst they are here on their wind/water sport holidays. At least now I know where I should come if I ever want to learn to kitesurf… for that I don’t think Jeri can be beaten. Maybe next time I can afford to take the R$7,000 (£2.5k) helicopter ride from Fortaleza rather than the R$35 bumpy bus/truck ride through the dunes and along the beach.

... so much (again, see pics!)

Oh, one last tradition in Jeri is the sunsets. There is one big dune to the left of the town and you get the most perfect view of the sunset everyday. Religiously at about 5:30pm you see a string of little ants marching up to the top of the dune to settle in an watch. Included in the marching ants is a portable Caipirinha bar - 'nuf said. Once again, no words. See pics. One cool thing to note is ...

... life. - Lazing around. Did you hear it? Could it be? What's that a vacation from a vacation? Yes, you heard it right dear reader we did in fact RELAX here. Amazing what a solid week or maybe ten days (we aren't sure, how is that for indulgent) here which afforded us luxuries such as serious hammock time and even a nap or two. We even slept in (if that is what you call it after going to bed at around 6am). During the day Jeri has a slow and sultry air that ...

... card, I have to go to the only working machine in the local supermarket, a nice stroll after dinner. We go for a 4 hour buggy trip around the nearby area seeing the dunes, the local coastline and villages. We stop at a restaurant which has slightly different sort of menu, they bring out a tray with two large fish, prawns and lobsters, they then ask you to select which one you want, it was a bad day for lobsters ...

A bankban r ...

Fortaleza

We did not stay long in Fortaleza. Fortaleza is not a very nice place. Its big, grey and polluted. The main attraction of Ceará state (of which Fortaleza is the capital) is its beaches. Unfortunetly the addition of an industrial port has not aided the cleanliness of the city´s beaches: they did not appeal to me. This was compounded by the blistering heat. I dont feel that I burn ...

... course, bags of cashew nuts. Just north of Natal is the small beach resort of Genipabu. Surrounded by sand dunes, it is famous for its hair-raising beach-buggy rides. We were a little disappointed in the size and extent of the dunes, and remembering our exploits on the sandy precipices of Huacachina in northern Peru about two years ago we decided to give it a miss this time. However, our short visit was worth it just for our breakfast treat at the ...

And across the beach, as far as the eye can see, there´s about the same number of people as on Lost...!! Have just spent the most incredibly relaxed days doing nothing! Eating breakfast, going to laze on the beach and swim, then as the day turns to afternoon, heading to restaurants and bars and continuing the lazing here ...
