... and roads. Finally we took the turn into the Plaza do Obradoiro and saw the cathedral. We felt a sense of accomplishment, relief and peace. We made it! We were there by 7:30am and the numbers were few; it was perfect. In the cool morning air we admired the beauty and majesty around us. In some ways one can feel so small and insignificant, yet the greater awareness is a sense of security, belonging and tradition. Bobby and Natalie stayed with our bags so we could get in line ...

... day,...when we turned and looked into each other's eyes... It was a feeling i will never forget. There was a oneness and knowingness of the journeys we all shared The city, which is very beautiful, filled with history every where you turn, was filled with pilgrims and tourists that all arrived for the big celebration of Santiago on the eve of july 24. Even the new king of Spain was here. The police came from all parts of Spain. The party ...

Most of the journey today was in forest paths. The path was up and down with few steep climbs (50 -70 m). The climb to Monte Gozo was 100 m. I arrived in Santiago about 7:40 pm and headed toward the Cathedral. The walk was around 40 minutes on a well marked ...

... a wonderful breakfast that kept us going for the whole day.

The main attraction to Santiago is the Cathedral, the designation for thousands upon thousands of pilgrims through the centuries putting their feet to the road on the Camino de Santiago trek. The Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James) is seen pilgrims walk hundreds of kilometres to pay homage to the remains of St. James in ...

... a late Father's Day promise, but better late than never. I carb up with a croissant (my gluten intolerance is loving Spain, NOT), an espresso and we refill our water bottles. 28 kms to go. The heat of the day sets in early and the day trippers all head to their pre-booked accommodation after 20kms - so the tracks empty again and only a hand full of pilgrims continue the journey to the "field of stars". It is hot. My shirt is soaking and I can feel ...
