A nice university town built on the hilly countryside below volcanic peak of Cofre de Perote. Being a lot closer to the coast, it's surrounded by jungle vegetation, but it’s also hot as hell. I stayed only a few nights but packed in many activities. Xalapa is home to the University of Veracruz, as well as many other arts schools. Got a bus to Xalapa and decided to stay there than going to Coapetec. Lots more hotels in Xalapa. Got a room @ Hotel Limon. Very nice hotel with all mosaics works but rooms are very small. We came in at 10pm so it was dark but having spoken to a few people since that's actually the most magical time to see it.

Went to the state conservation park Macuiltepetl in Xalapa. Must be like walking up Grouse Mountain.Not hat I have ever done that. Very steep. Difference is there are stairs. Had coffee in what I am calling the highest coffee shop in the state.
