Arrived after a short uneventful journey. Campsite similar. Weather changeable.

Tourist sites do not always live up to the flowery language used in the brochures eg. "Musicological Nucleus of the Salt" turned out to be a Musee de Sel. We did not go.

The local beauty spots, like every where else, that we did go to were covered with ingrained litter.
We are moving on tomorrow.
Figueira da Foz, Beiras, Portugal mikeandsuecuffWe arrived without incident after a short and pleasant journey. Odd campsite mainly permanent encampments! Most of them looked like they had been there for many years. We were entertained by families arriving over the weekend to pack up for the winter. They cleared out all the rubbish that they had accumulated over the summer. They then covered their caravan.awning and covered area with tarpaulin and tied it down and put stones ...
Aveiro, Aveiro, Portugal mikeandsuecuff... backed by dunes and pine trees. We loved watching the huge waves breaking on the sand, but of course the water was still far too cold for swimming. The campsite was actually at Gala, just south of the estuary of the Mondego, so to get to Figueira da Foz it was a short drive across an impressive bridge. Fig Foz is both a working port and a popular holiday resort, with a long promenade lined with hotels ...
Figueira da Foz, Beiras, Portugal oldagetraveller... another spread for breakfeast with our new friends the Conzalas family. The next day our kids finally get to see the Atlantic close up.. [PHOTO_ID_L=3_the-atlantic.jpg warm air, cold atlantic! It was wonderful to end our car journey at the beach with gelatos before leaving for our final drive... back to Amora.
Figueira da Foz, Beiras, Portugal hollingers... enough just to fit a car.

We then drove back west to Alcobaca. The Cistercian Monastery of Santa Maria was closed, but beautiful enough from the outside. Even at Batalha the Monastery was closed but the square around, was beautiful for a short rest stop. Tired by then we thought of dropping Fatima, but decided to drive up, as it was not far from our ...
Coimbra, Beiras, Portugal savla78... and returned home in time to watch the first soccer match of the Euro Cup between Portugal and Turkey on TV (Portugal won 3-0). At night, we watched our wedding video with everyone and retired. Day 2, Sunday in Fig, we drove to Kaka´s hotel in Fig and had gelato at Emanha, a popular spot for gelato and coffee. Kaka's hotel is a nice bed and breakfast and he plans to re-open the ...
Figueira da Foz, Beiras, Portugal flaljee... tänaseni näha mosaiikpõrandaid ning mitmete ehitiste vundamente. Osad nendest on nüüdseks saanud algse kuju, ehk siis vundament on originaal, kuid peale ehitatud osa on valgest kivist, et välja tuua kontrast kuipalju alustaladest on säilinud. Vanasti elati väga-väga suurejooneliselt, saime jälle kinnituse. Kindlasti tasub seal ära käia, sissepääs on kõigest 3€, mis sisaldab varemete ja muuseumi külastust.
Conimbriga, Beiras, Portugal pille...

Coimbra, Beiras, Portugal pille... his chest. I thought about stopping to help but he was the last line of defense so i ran around him and scored in an open goal. After this game the serious soccer players came down. We ended up siding with 4 13 year old local kids who needed help to field a team. So me,Morton and Jamie played Adam decided to sit the games out. Then it was game time we where playing a team of French guys all about 25 to 30 and pretty big fellas. They where fairly rough on the young fellas so we had ...
Figueira da Foz, Portugal hastieHello...

I'm in Portugal now. Last I wrote was in Toledo, I think...I took a night train to Lisbon, where I stayed for one night. It's nice, as far as big cities go, but it's a big city. It's very diverse and the people are real laid back.

After that I went to Sintra, just west of Lisbon. It's a little town in the mountains. Lots of shade, green, and fresh air. I spent many more days there than I planned to. The first night I arrived ...
