... was the eve of the 52nd anniversary of the Committees for the Defence of the Revolution (CDR) which meant there were street parties happening all around us - people playing music, lighting bonfires and cooking traditional food on the street. We spent some time exploring and of course bought a bottle of Havana Club as we couldn't believe the prices at approximately $7US for a litre of top-end rum.

... to try to make it on a local bus and then walk the rest of the way to the airport from there. Only gov't sanctioned taxis can take you to the airport. Dulce would have none of it. She refused to let Ras pay for her last night so she would have money to safely make it to the airport. That is the kind of people you will meet in Cuba.
