... eyes and raised eyebrows. Apparently in most Spanish-speaking countries "culo" means ass, but in Mexico it means anus!

Such is the cringe-worthy nature of learning a new language!!

Another related faux pas was writing "Feliz ano nuevo" on my Facebook wall wishing friends and family a Happy New Year (or so I thought!) In the absence of a Spanish keyboard I neglected to use the special letter so instead of "año" which means "year" I had written "ano" ...

... We had breakfast at a random spot with no name, where we were the only guests and the owner was the only server, cook, and overall employee. As we requested things he dashed out the door to buy them at the store. After class, Traci and I went to dance class. The first class was a really tricky salsa pattern. I got caught up in a few minutes, though, and learned to follow it by the end of the class. The second class was Bachata, which was super fun. I like Bachata a lot, honestly. There was a part in the dance, though, that the girl is kind of supposed to sit ...

... did get a good idea of what the stores have, though, so that was good. I did get a really cute necklace and bracelet set for about $4, though. I also ended up going in a couple of other shops on the way just to look around. By about 9, I made it to the actual center of town where the students were supposed to meet at 10 p.m. I ended up just walking around town a little to see all the happenings.

When I got down to the theatre district, there were people EVERYWHERE! I would ...
