Granada, Nicaragua hess... must walk up to the top of the volcano rather than catch a ride with the park rangers. It is 1200m of elevation, and about 6km of steep roads. That night we slept in the lodge at the top, it was the first night I have been cool in a long time. We trekked around the jungle in the pitch black for a few hours, checking out salamanders and frog eggs.. very fun. Hard to see though, since we were in the middle of the clouds ...
Granada, Nicaragua rpalkovsky... 13th September 2009

We were woken early by Omri who was itching to get going. We walked to the ´shop´ (a hut consisting of every kind of tinned food you can possibly imagine, tinned food and water.....that´s it!). From there we took a taxi to Masaya National Park. This park has an active volcano (Volcan Santiago) which is the one of the worlds biggest natural polluters. We got a guide to drive us to the view point I suppose you´d call it. It ...
Granada, Nicaragua micheleen... g-them-with-branches-and-belts-and-shir ts-in-order-to-****-them-right-off, which I can imagine led to the coming of some uppance for a few people. Later, when the bulls were exhausted, the teasing, to put it mildly, progressed to poking them in the eyes, pulling their tails, kicking them and other excesses, it was all a bit horrible really. I don't wish harm on anyone, but it could certainly be said that some people deserved the mincings that were supposedly dished ...
Granada, Nicaragua roryd... no tail. Since the islet is far from any land, the monkey tried to reach a high voltage cable that runs on top, and the electric shock burned his tail. Also there is no fruit trees so i don't think they're healthy... anyways that was the ecologic part of me talking....

We had our lunch in a restaurant in the shores. It's very good and the view is just relaxing.

The next day we ...
Granada, Granada, Nicaragua jaribg... is truly intoxicating.
My other encounters with Guasacate have been gentler and less salty - once, when the tide was high, Franklin, my host brother, a family friend, Claire and I swam up to the mangroves and spent a good 45 minutes climbing up and launching ourselves out of the trees.
I’m not a very big beach person, but Nicaragua has definitely shown me a few good things that the beach can offer ☺

Sardina, Rivas, Nicaragua alicetin... in a mountain town or one on a lake which is actually a volcano crater. We did a lot of snoozin in the heat today and explored the town after sunset. Ya its smokin hot but there is always a breeze blowing and somehow this heat feels just right while we are here after the long Montana winter. Take care all! Charlette
Granada, Nicaragua padilla8... to me now, and no they are not always insulting me. so after kayaking the entire lake catching a few fishies on the fly, free diving down 30 feet observing the elusive and shy cichlids (three of which dont even have common names or scientific names as of yet), helping gather seeds for reforestation, hanging out with the endangered and incredibly affectionate Peckery named Gregory (its like a wild boar thing with giant teeth people ...
Laguna de apoyo, Nicaragua bassmanmsGranada is a pleasant place, but with everything from an American steakhouse to an Irish Pub, its very much on the Gringo trail. Its an very nice place in its own right, but pretty unremarkable given I had been to probably two dozen colonial cities previously.
