        ... for a good part of the year.. Last month they had snow, the forest walls are seeping and oozing with fresh water through the ferns.. What a perfect environment for them and for me! Since I started out in a tiny village, few people are seen on the trail.. The rhythm is different than when you start where most pilgrims stop...         ... disappear at different points when a van appears with their food. They then disappear altogether when the rain starts. They get collected by van and taken off to their accommodation for the evening. I ask myself "are they really pilgrims in the true sense of it, or are they just tourists?).         ... a change in the type of "pilgrims". From Sarria on there are more and more walkers that only carry small packs. They send their suitcases or heavier packs by taxi or van! Sylvia calls them "tricheurs" (cheaters!). We met an old man in his 90s and chatted with him for a bit.
