Today I finally got off the plane to Brazil. I went to my hotel at the Hotel casa da Montanha, and by that time is was around 12:30. I wanted to do a little exploring to see what was out there. First I explored the city of Gramado. I took a bus down to Lago Negro (The black lake), and i decided to listen to some cultural music on the way down. I …

After a delicious lunch, everyone relaxed. We watched some television. I chatted in a mixture of Portuguese and English with the two oldest grandkids who wanted to practice their English...well there uncle wanted them to practice their English. Later, I played dominos with the twin grandchildren and Lu. Then, to conclude the afternoon of family fun, we had coffee and bolos de chuva (think ...

    On Our Own Now!

Brazil without the bubble of the cruise protection/comfort.

We only spent about 2 hours in Santos, we departed the ship, a little sad to leave it, maybe more to do with the fact that now we have to find our own way in a country where we don't speak any of the language!

We loaded our backpacks on and set off the ship to find the bus station to Sao Paulo, where we had a stay for three nights booked.
