We did a bird walk this morning at Veterans Oasis Park, a new reclamation project in Chandler. Reclamation meaning the end product of a waste water treatment facility.
We have a fish able lake here with limits and everything, a large wetland and an environmental education center on site.
Parks like this are an inspiration in the desert. Take a look at the pictures to see what I mean--would you guess it's genesis?

When you grow up ...
Chandler, Arizona, United States bobnkaren... br>The Wild Horse Pass casino has developed a really authentic western town called Rawhide -- the site this year of the Train of Terror, the Body Wagon to Ghoul Gulch, the Crypt and The Asylum. We sat on the boardwalk eating popcorn, watching the costumed walk down dusty mainstreet.

Chandler, Arizona, United States bobnkaren... for our host family in Uruguay.
A word about ***** Sporting Goods. Twice we've gone to this store and twice been dissapointed with the lack of knowledge of their sales people. Give me Snappy's anyday. They knew nothing about fly fishing for bass and that's what's in these lakes. Give me a break. Hire well or stay home.
Oh, and the Arizona Chill? It's a bright sunny blue-sky 61 degrees.
Sun Lakes, Arizona, United States bobnkaren... odds and ends he could do while here. So he's installing his second bathroom faucet now, and yesterday we hosed out the Arizona room.
We'd call it a sun porch and every house here has one, a screened in porch/deck/extension with afternoon shade. Imagine, with the dust storms Arizona gets--and we're on the edge of several miles of barren fields--imagine how the dust can fly!
Oh yes ...
Sun Lakes, Arizona, United States bobnkarenThis is really exciting. We're in. Everything looks great. This is a wonderful place. The 'Casita' looks great, our site looks great. We just have a few hitches to iron out. The last hours of driving from Deming were busy with the magnificent views of the ...
Casa Grande, Arizona, United States averynetEach team member has fifty pounds of medical equipment and medicines, including some over the counter meds, to take along with personal belongings to work in clinic each day and deal with the very cool temperatures (at least for zonies). I've packed and repacked four times trying to get it all under the weight and size restrictions for both airlines and enable me to handle it all on my own as we set up clinic and travel to a new location daily.
Gilbert, Arizona, United States rreeser... found a good one of Route 66 and bal bought it for me. Twenty minutes were up and we made our way back to the van on our last leg of the journey. We got to Grand Canyon an hour or so later on the South Rim side, Darryl let us off at the visitors centre while he parked the van, we went looking for a grand canyon snowglobe but they didnt sell any so made our way out of there and walked towards the canyon - one word - AWESOME! This is Mother Nature at her best, it ...
Arizona City, Arizona, United States bounty99... false summit. My credibility has now diminished to the point that I'm not trusted to comment on any aspect of life. So tomorrow is the last day of the ride and we have at least 100 miles ahead of us (assuming that we take a more direct route into town). There isn't going to be an easy mile in the whole bunch considering the condition of my rear end, and the forecast for rain. It should be interesting. Cheers Kerry (and Team Tolero)
Casa Grande, Arizona, United States kzuberOn our first full day in Arizona, we traveled down to Casa Grande Ruins in Coolidge, Arizona. It is about 1 hour south of Phoenix. The Casa Grande Ruins are part of the National Park System and is classified as a National Monument. It is considered one of the largest ruins of the Hohokam Native civilization. The primary structure here is a four story high by 60 ft. wide gathering house ...
Coolidge, Arizona, United States tdotte... I was born there 62 years ago. Saw Sky Harbor airport--no longer a 2 plane affair, St. Joseph's Hospital where I was born and had dinner at the newly redone general aviation field in Deer Valley--a suburb of Phoenix. In between we looked a new home models in Surprise--also a growing suburb. Pictures that are attached should give you some idea of what we saw.
