Tourist-ing Out in Tenerife

... back and forth to the bar from the pool. Aside from that though it was a gorgeous spot and had some great restaurants along the boardwalk and beaches to check out. After that we drove up the coast to Playa de San Juan and then Puerto Santiago for a great late lunch. On the way home we stopped at Los Cristianos for a look around but it seemed to just be the same as Playa de las Americas but circa 1976. On Monday we booked ourselves into the cheapest accommodation we could find ...

Hop On Hop Off Santa Cruz

... at least you get the feel of the city. We stopped in town at an 8 story department store called El Corte Ingles and made our way up the escalators to the top floor where we got a panoramic view of the city and port from the cafeteria. Another coffee and some fried sweet bread, like the ship doesn't feed us enough, and we began walking the city. It is a luxury hotel/spa with pink houses, flats scatter up the hillside that leads onto the 18 hole golf course. If only it had been hire might have helped! Still have time to spare so we call in at Los Abrigos to have the first of our rolls. There's a small evening market but whilst sunny ...

El Teide

... of Teide before we had taken a photo! Not put off we drive on up and through the clouds to find clear blue sky by the time we reach the National Park. The lava flows make for a barren landscape but areas of sediment and extinct craters make for a dramatic lunar like landscape. The snow on the mountains and at the side of the road add to the impact. We drive onto the cable car which we take to the highest point (xxxx ft) just a 150m below ...

La Laguna, Santa Cruz, San Juan de la Rambla

A travel blog entry by valfinucane

A relatively early start by 10.00 to arrive in La Laguna in time for the start of the local football match between. La Laguna and Lanzerote. It's in a much larger stadium than last week and the football is of a better standard, a league above, but it lacks the local atmosphere, the result 2-1 to the home side is a fair result. We wander back into town and explore the old capital. It has some fine 18th century buildings set in a perfect grid so flat and easy to follow! We stop ...
