... group of international friends - we all arrived a few weeks before classes actually started for orientation and an intensive Spanish course. I must say, one of the highlights of my stay thus far was accompanying my friend Emily to IKEA to buy blankets for her room, odd as that sounds. It was her first time in IKEA, and her excitement about everything was literally endless. Another highlight was going to a bar with my roommates ...

... it. Its warmer than the sea and very calm and shallow so its great for swimming in the summer. We also drove past our old house which still looked just the same, even with the same pot sun on the wall! There was a very nice sunset over the mountains in the distance and its a very nice place, even though its very quiet at this time of year. There are fruit trees all over the place and there are lovely views of the sea and mountains.

Thank you Ken for taking us through this amazing spectacular unforgettable route. Valencia here we ...

Had a wonderful afternoon exploring Castillo de Sant Barbara (hugecastle/fort at the top of hill in Alicante) and listening to some of the 3 Reyes (3 Kings/Wisemen) festivities from the top of the castle. Tonight the 3 Kings (Wisemen) arrive! There were huge celebrations here in Spain. We could hear a marching band and see signs of a parade and huge crowds from the top of the castle. Later we saw on TV lots of celebrations all over Spain with kings and beautifully dressed women ...

... down to the beach for the day.

We wandered around 'people watching'. Walked to the water's edge and watched quite a few people swimming, people playing bat and ball games on the beach, dogs and children running around and child builders doing sandcastles.

As the morning went on the beach got more and more full. AND THEN, at midday, the brass band arrived onto ...
