Granada

... t know if many other people do. I've never seen it. But for the first time in my life I saw this joven do so. This was my first true feel for the people of Granada. Pretty cool. After meeting up we walked along a road and it was really nice. Granada has foothills on the east side so it adds a really neat effect. There was also a stream. The first running water I've seen in Spain. I think Malaga is too try to have running water like that aside ...

Be Positive!

So much to share! The Spanish tradition of not getting anything done is really starting to weasel its way into my mind and I am finding it really difficult to get more than one thing a day checked off my to do list. So, my apologies for the delay in writing. For this entry I shall group topics so that you can skip around if you get bored!

Halloween

I dressed up as a black cat at school and the kids loved it!

Granada! (Part I)

... Mid evil town with the accommodations of modern day Africa. As we hiked up, we came across random chickens running through the "roads", mules wandering around, home dug into the sides of walls, and kids carrying around giant basins to get fresh water from the town below. It was honestly like going back hundreds of years in time, and to be honest, was a little scary. We got out as soon as we got un-lost.

By the time we got off the top of the mountain, it was ...

Oh Granada

... which isn’t often enough Mum). One tapa’s bar I would recommend is La Beauty & La Bestia (Beauty & the Beast) which offers for 2euro a bagel with various fillings, potato gems, and a serve of pasta/olives – how is it so cheap!

This tour was where I met a couple of Canadian boys who were a lot of fun and took us out that night with a load of American princesses who were on exchange learning Spanish courtesy of Daddy’s credit card ...

Granada, Andalusia and the Alhambra Day 1

... taxi was $41...more than the $30 we expected but oh well. The weather in Barcelona was sunny and calm as opposed to the wind and clouds we had the previous 3 days. The weather always gets better the day you leave... We arrived at Granada at noon. The airport is smaller than Regina's which is a nice change from the humongous Barcelona airport where you seem to walk for miles. We again decided to take a taxi instead of the 3E Airport ...

Amazing Alhambra

... and Capilla Real, savouring the sweet smells from the stalls selling all manner of herbs. I fell into a little tourist trap here, with an old lady preying upon me and telling me my fortune, before demanding some money. It had been so long since I was in a situation like that I just gave up and gave her a euro. I continued on up by the picturesque Rio Darro below La Alhambra, before making my way up the hill to the Albayzin. Declared a UNESCO ...

Granada - Alhambra

... lion rather than 12 lions forming a majestic fountain. But I guess things like this are bound to happen from time to time when you visit historical sites that require maintenance and repair. Hiking along the winding paths in the Albaicin hill next to Alhamba offers a great view of the Alhambra (the sunset is said to be the best but I didn't stay that late) and there are plenty pretty houses and souvenir shops to explore.

Good times!

... of them). I am definitely living the Spanish social life, I haven't gotten to sleep before 4AM since classes started. For that I am fortunate that I don't have the morning session! Just so you get an idea of how much the Spaniards love their night time- the dance clubs don't even open till 2-3 in the morning, it is pretty common for people to come home at 8 or 9 AM! I don't know how one can live a productive life like that but hey it works ...
