Stupid Volcano and family-friendly kayaking

... on the shore of the Lake Guiterrez and made our way to a nearby hotel to meet our kayaking guides. We were the only ones booked in for the afternoon, so we had guide Gaston all to ourselves, and were accompanied by a photographer for the whole trip. It was a gorgeous setting on a peaceful lake under the jagged peaks behind Bariloche. On the outward trip Patrick was in the front of Blair's kayak, and I was with Gaston. We paddled for about an hour and stopped on ...

Day 13: Cascada Inacayal, Villa La Angostura

... Occasionally, the path is marked with arrows. We pass a young couple with backpacks and they look vibrant and Harvey comments on how you could feel their positive energy - as if they were radiating. We are not sure if it is possible to approach the waterfall from below and we talk about that we may have taken the upper path by mistake. It certainly would have been an easier to approach from the bottom! All the photos of the waterfall ...

Beautiful lake side view

... been a great entrance to Argentina but now we want to see the true country and discover further out side the lake district. Bariloche also is the home of chocolate and in preparation of our trekking in the Torres Del Paine we have taken a little stash. the ice creams have also been superb and no doubt contributing to the increase our waists. Ice cream here is part of daily life for people regardless of the weather. When in Rome....................

WEEK SEVENTY FIVE, PARCELS, PRATS, PISTES

... Isn't it strange the things you miss most from home? I really miss good chewing gum that doesn't turn into a strange slim in your mouth after less than one minute chewing and that actually tastes of something other than nothing! I also miss watching a decent news channel that isn't CNN that only covers the American elections, I am not American and am not going to vote, and I am sure there is other more interesting news stories happening in the States but they never report on them ...

Laking Around

... wasps and packs of dogs. The next day we were up bright and early (not really but it sounds good) and headed down for a fantastic breakfast of croissants and jam. We then headed on a wander (marathon) to find some waterfalls and views of the lakes. After a while it was obvious we were on the wrong track when a rude Argie basically told us to naff off. It all turned out well though as we stumbled across a beautiful lake where we went for a ...

60 Words for Chocolate

... because a 12th shop was closed for siesta. We ambled back to the hostel, feeling defeated and slightly taunted by the huge number of chocolates left untried. After this extensive analysis, however, we can report that the chocolate in Rio Negro province is of an extremely high standard, with very few exceptions, and we particularly recommend Frambruesa de leche (raspberry mousse with milk chocolate), and crema suiza (Swiss Cream, although no one ...
