... a Minoan palace might have looked like . We visited the throne room , the women's quarters. After walking around the palace we stopped in Knossos for lunch. Tim and I picked the taverna nearest the bus and order Sardines and a Greek salad. The sardines were not the kind we find back home in a can. They were really big and had lots of bones . We were later joined by Diedre who we share our sale with and sampled her anchovies From Knossos we drove back into Chania and spent ...

After a while on the beach, we found a good waterfront restaurant and were shocked by how low the prices were ...

... Great walk. Beautiful scenery. A formed path most of the way and all downhill so easy. Came out the bottom about 3pm (I was a slow walker as some people did it in 4-5 hours) at a town called Agia Roumeli. A swim at the beach (deserved), and then a boat ride to the next town on the coast that had a road to it (Sougia) Then it was the bus back to Chania arriving at 9pm. Pretty full day. Tired but ...

... no supplies and she was almost at the base, she offered me hers: some confections and a 1.5-liter water bottle, 3/4 full. I graciously accepted. Gabriela and I exchanged names and thus I continued.

The hike went swimmingly (there's still snow in these here hills) until it didn't. Walking along a ridge, I came to a large column. Right there, the trail went cold. My only path seemed to be to continue along the ridge. Problem: the ridge ...
