We woke up this morning to find ourselves just coming into Palma de Mallorca. Mallorca is the largest of the four Ballearic Islands – part of Spain and Palma is the capital. Very pretty little city and extremely well organized cruise ship dock – with ramps like at an Airport that you use to get yourselves into a covered walkway that takes you to the exit where you can pick up taxis or a bus into the town – ...
Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain suzanne-norman... one you shouldn’t miss if you ever make it to Mallorca.
None of my pics looked very good so, instead of posting my bad pics, below is the link the caves website. Their pics are much better than mine and also show the boats on the underwater lake. http://www.cuevasdeldrach.com/

... us off and then returned to the yacht go continue on their way. Usually the crew will setup an area on the beach with a canopy, beverages, and a few lounge chairs, but since none of that would fit on the heli, it was just us a change of close, beach towels a few drinks and sunscreen.
We weren’t nearly as hyper on the beach today as we were in Formentera. Today, everyone just strolled around the ...
... speak no English. We have a great dinner and some nice (and inexpensive) wine. The owners are from Argentina so I discuss my trip to South America with them.
We head out to the main bar/club street. My back is killing me. Every step is painful but I try to put it out of my mind. The area along the harbor has a good café crowd but the bars are empty. We finally go into one at 12. Within 30 minutes there is a good crowd. Almost all ...
Breakfast is provided at the hostel. Coffee, juice, toast and cereal (cornflakes or cocoa puffs). It serves the purpose.
I go to the Palma city center (20 minutes by bus). The historic area is OK. Cathedral is beautiful and there is a Moorish castle. Most of the city lacks character. So, this is pretty much a beach island although I understand there are some nice hikes in its more remote hills.

... has 4 beds). He is from Madrid but speaks English well. A good chance for me to work on my Spanish. He is 24, in Mallorca for a week to get away from it all. A very nice guy. He had met a woman from Slovakia which keeps him busy during much of my stay.
Dialects of Spanish make it much harder for a novice. I learned Playa for beach in Spanish while in Mallorca it is Platja. Even names of places Mallorca vs Majorca, Ibiza vs Eivissa. This part of Spain speaks Catalan, a ...
... Natur.
Took a catamaran out of Palma de Mallorca. Mallorca is a Spanish isle known for it's many small, but beautiful beaches. I did not take my I-Phone for fear of getting it wet so will have to get pictures from Steve or Judy. So the picture included is from the Spanish coast the night before. Elise and Julie avoided the catamaran due to their slight seasickness earlier in the cruise ...
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands cpandjy... 8217;t much to see in Palma the bus did take me up to Castle Bellver where I was able to have a nice look down on the city and waterfront. Being a little churched out from my time in Italy I still had to visit Palma’s landmark cathedral and one of the more impressive I’ve been to on the trip, especially since Gaudi put his mark on it with a funky designed chapel. The city had just enough to keep me occupied for an afternoon ...
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands phileus_fogg...
