... we managed to stay hydrated and there was never a gelato shop to far away. It was difficult to not take too many photos as every corner seemed to offer up something interesting as well as a shop of some description to be explored. We eventually ran out of puff and started the long walk back to the bus terminal where we located our ride and thank fully got a seat before the hordes arrived. The downside being the driver was not prepared to have the engine running until ...

... the church of Santa Maria della Salute. One of the interesting things about this church is that it focuses on Mary as the Queen, so the dome is directly on top of the church crowning it, instead of at the front of a long nave. Our last day in Venice started off nice and easy, with breakfast by the canal again, and then rearranging our bags ready for ...

... it is so packed. Outside tables and chairs fill the side walk, the maitre d is very attentive to us and calls Steve Mr Stefano Lorenzo. We follow him to our table, squish in and are in for a very entertaining evening. Its probably about 9.00pm by now, maybe later as it is dark. There is a table behind us with about 20 people. The Maitre d is very busy keeping an eye on all his staff and guests. We start our meal with something we have grown to ...

... island of Venice. We just kept exploring and finding small streets and bridges and heard the gondoliers singing through the canals all dressed up in their navy striped sweaters and caps with a ribbon. Finally we found a nice romantic place for 2 along the Grand Canal and enjoyed dinner. We decided to split a spinach ravioli and vegetarian Lasagna (Easily my favorite pasta thus far since being abroad, I'm gonna have to learn how to make ...
