... view of Milan and the facades of the church are beautiful. We did lots of walking and found a great food hall. The boys cooked up a feast for New Year's Eve dinner. After dinner we took the kids for a walk to see the streets of Milan at night. We then went back to the apartment. The fireworks in Milan at midnight were fantastic. During our long walk down a maze of streets and canals (the map was glued to my hand at all times, it is so easy to get lost!) we stumbled across a ...

I went to the market to grab some snacks for the train since we weren't getting to Venice until 2:30. We checked out of the B and B, and headed to the train station. Kurt wanted to get a Lucca thimble (by the way, anyone who is traveling anywhere, please feel free to send him a thimble!)- they didn't have any, just half thimble magnets, so we bought 2 to ...

... wasn't going for it. I talked to the gondolier and he brought two friends over and, with their help, assured Mom that she could get in safely. She did, complaining all the way. Now we were cruising through the canals, listening to music and song while traversing the narrow, scenic and romantic canals. Tourists atop the arched bridges called out greetings and took pictures of us as we floated leisurely below. Mom was finally settling down and just enjoying ...
