    ... a late lunch at a little pizza place right on the Grand Canal and then we finally gave in to the ultimate tourist experience and boarded a gondola. What a wonderfully smart system of price fixing they have going for those boats! After getting over the fact that we paid almost as much for a night in our hotel as we did for a 30 minute boat ride, we settled in and enjoyed the view of this wonderful city by boat.     ... You really have to be careful when shopping. On to Burano known for its lace. A very beautiful and colorful island around 12 kilometers from the grand canal. This was our favorite place. We took some great pictures there. We had a very nice included dinner and headed back to our hotel.     Back to the room to get our stuff prepped for our flight back to London the next day.

    I must say - Venice is still my fav place ever, and even after 4 trips, I still feel like there is so much to see - so many areas I just want to wander around. I guess having seen all the 'touristy' stuff, the next time I return (And I will return!) will be spent wandering the less touristy areas.

    ... in New Zealand when I owned a bright blue pair with red edging. As I walked closer to San Marco square I began to see small amounts of water and thought, 'oh cool, but it's not much.' Once I arrived at the piazza, I saw that many of the tourists had put on these bright coloured plastic knee high wrappers over their shoes and pants. Only the locals had gumboots on.
