... me "no no no" and then something in Italian while pushing me away. I think he was saving room for whoever he was with. We managed to squeeze it in, we had run into a woman and her husband from Florida when we had boarded the first train and they had our backs a bit, helping us with the lifting of our luggage and helping us to find spots for it. Once we sat down we were happy, but it was definitely a crowded train ride after a few spots.

... it feels like youre just in a regular public transit system once you sit in one. oh ya, and there is this one bridge with locks attached and it looks bizarre, until you realize the they all have names of two lovers on them, so romantic and cheesy i love it.

Other than that, and basic observations, i guess, is i just love the way italians speak (have i said that already?). theyre so expressive and they always look so excited when ...

... Fortunately the larger bridges over the Grand Canal have a ramp up one edge of the steps so things can be wheeled around but the majority don't, so if you close your eyes you can hear this constant "bump, bump, bump, bump" as trolleys and suitcases bump from one step to the next!

Then there are the gondolas......everywhere, as you would expect, but go back a couple of hundred years and there were up to 10,000 gondolas in use here, ...

... was wonderful. Overall, I recommend the experience. It was very cold, though! After the gondola ride, Terry and I rejoined and took a walking tour back to the hotel. Grant and Dominic went off on their own. Passed through streets and alleyways that were on and off beaten path. Very nice. Back to room at 5. Terry napped. Dinner was on our own. Vanni recommended Osteria Alba Nova,a family ...
