Garcia Vigil 703 Oaxaca, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico, 68000, (951)-5145322
Arrived in Oaxaca via Houston late Wednesday night. With reservations for four nights at Hotel Las Golandrinas and contacts on the ground, I hoped we would find long-term accommodations within a few days, and we did. Given Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), one of the country's biggest festivals, is only one week away, I was a bit concerned about securing lodging. However, after visiting several ...
Oaxaca, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico kellyjohn... grow three sizes - from two sizes too small... but AT, his heart must have grown four or five sizes - and it certainly wasn't two sizes too small to begin with. He's so loving, he could probably grow the heart sizes of a few modern day grinches all on his own. We had some really great times together. We hiked up a ...
Oaxaca, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico smcollins... metahopr. I was taken aback. And that's when it hit me like so much epiphany gettind displodged from my areteries. The problem with Christian culture is we think of love as a commodity. We use it like money. Professor Spencer was right, and not only was he right, I felt as though he had cured me, as though he had let me out of my cage. I could see it very clearly. If somebody is doing something for us, offering us something, be it gifts ...
Oaxaca, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico smcollins... trip again was a many mountain passes winding roads trip. Security high and we were filmed in our seats before leaving the terminal- I think highway robberies may be why the film was taken. Thankfully we got some sleep as the bus was not full and we got 2 seats each. We arrived in San Cristobal, in the state of Chiapis on Tuesday 17th Feb and found a lovely hostel called Mezcalito and our room was very clean, bright and on the 2nd floor overlooking the garden and with a ...
Oaxaca, SanCristobal, Merida, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico kasnsqueak... Limited time indeed, as we arrived with about 45 minutes remaining before closing time.

Nevertheless it was a most impressive 45 minutes spent in one of Mexico’s great archaeological sites. I was frankly pinching myself that we had lucked upon the most important archaeological site in the state of Oaxaca located so close to the city of Oaxaca. This was another unexpected bonus.

Monte Alban is described ...
Oaxaca, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico lobo... worlds biggest tree with a diameter of over 14 metres. In another town we saw the most ornate church yet (and we've seen a few!). It was in the process of restoration, paid for we were told by one of the workers, by the Mexican President. The same guy told us to feel free to wander up the stairs to the choir gallery. Nice to see the church from a height but not worth the 20 pesos another guy ...
Oaxaca, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico dixieannie... order to convert the hethan indigenous people. Apparenlty since the natives were used to worshiping outside, they weren´t willing to enter a church building to do their worship, so the Spanish built a church with no roof and 23 open doors so that the natives could come and go. It was also one of the better views of the city according to our guide guy. After that we went to lunch and I had a fantastic meal. I ...
Oaxaca, Mexico btighe... were more into getting wasted every night and they were a cliquey bunch. I tried my hand at surfing again and Amy hired a body board. We had been advised to go to another beach playa Carrizalillo, but we checked out the local one first. Playa Zicatela wasnt much good for beginners with 15 foot waves. Amy was struggling to get on her board, to catch waves, partly due to the fact the leash was tied to her foot rather than her wrist. I had a bit of luck but the waves broke to ...
Oaxaca, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico rlphillips... eggs, potatoes, tomatoes, and beans. It was really good. After that Tico wanted to take me to school instead of Rhonda. When I arrived at school I had to take a placement test and I could only finish page one of four. So before I go into a group to learn I have to take private lessons, at first I was upset because I was thinking how am I going to meet anyone?! But we had break and all the students come into the break area and I might everyone. There are 4 people from ...
Oaxaca, Mexico tmpatton... flew to Oaxaca. The hostel we got to was quite rustic (Shane likes to say dodgy) with minimal everything except cactuses. We were up surprisingly early the next day and we posted off heaps of our stuff after finally gauging the Spanish instructions (not so many people speak English which is fair enough but a little hard) though even after we sent things back home our bags were mysteriously just as heavy and bulging. Hmmm. Anyway, the town was very cool, though probably ...
