Hello All. We have really enjoyed our stay in Brownsville, TX to visit Jerry's parents. We don't see them often and it is always bittersweet when the visit nears an end.

We went out for a casual dinner with the parents and Jerry's brother, Juan, and wife Vivian. Then it was back to the hotel to begin packing up our belongings.
Brownsville, Texas, United States hollyesparzaIt is always a must to spend some time on South Padre Island. SPI is located about 20 minutes from Brownsville. Alex now knows about the "beach". He did not want to leave.

This was the girls first visit to the beach. They thought it was okay, but would have ...
South Padre Island, Texas, United States hollyesparza... Padre Island to have dinner at Amberjack's. I had a fabulous surf 'n' turf dinner with filet mignon and Alaskan King Crab legs...yummmm!!

Dinner took a long time to arrive at our table, so of course dessert was on management. Don't worry...I did not partake of the sinful decadence.
Brownsville, Texas, United States hollyesparzaIt was a quick trip to Brownsville, TX from Saint Hedwig. The shortest leg of our journey so far. We stopped at Tacqueria Jaliscos for a lunch break. This is our traditional stop whenever we make the trek between San Antonio and Brownsville. The food is always better than I remember from the previous visit.

As soon as we arrived in Brownsville, we headed straight to Jerry's parents house to say hello before checking into the Residence Inn for our week-long stay.
Brownsville, Texas, United States hollyesparzaThe day has finally arrived. Mille and I are not sure how to feel knowing what we are getting ourselves into in the natural, but the conclusion I've come to is this:
I'd rather be in the will of God.
I'm not sure if this is even really happening, and we don't even have "specific" direction! Just GO. The plane to Brownsville was a tiny ...
Brownsville, Texas, United States robandmillie... and oyster basket with onion rings and hushpuppies. Again the portion was huge. There were 5 large pieces of fish and 6 oysters. It was all piled in a plastic basket lined with butcher paper, which is just the way fried foods should be served at a fishing pier. The problem was the food. The oysters were small and had been in the freezer for a while. They looked great, golden brown, but when I took my first bite, I almost ...
South Padre Island, Texas, United States mjphoto2009 03 08 While traveling along the Texas Tropical Hwy to South Padre, we were surprised to learn that the land is flooded by the Gulf of Mexico tide for several miles inland every day. The area is devoid of any trees because of the salt content and by the occasional hurricane that constantly knock them over thereby stifling propagation. Cacti however, thrive just inches above the flood plain which seems strange considering the extremely high humidity and ocean in the ...
South Padre Island, Texas, United States lavidanueva... so they say. As you might remember, one of them killed Steve Irvin "The Crocodile Hunter". Irwin was fatally pierced in the chest by a stingray spine while snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef, at Batt Reef, which is located off the coast of Port Douglas in Queensland. Check out the story at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Irwi n#Death Anyways, besides the weather and the Stringies J.... I mean Stingies ... we're having a good time ...
South Padre Island, Texas, United States globekiter... 19 net, so things like this carry weight when you’re on a budget. Greyhound’s not especially costly, but long and slow. This is the age of hitch-hiking, too, back when you’d 'go hitch-hiking’ just for fun, but a cheap flight once in a while is a luxury.
