So this is Lima

Our flight left for LIM at 9:15, so we had to get to the airport at 8:30. For us that meant leaving at 8:15. I wish you could do this for domestic flights in the U.S. Anyway, quickly grabbed breakfast, checked out of Torre Dorrado, and took our transfer to the airport. I was actually worried because last time we got our tickets 45 mins before the plane left, we were running around the LIM airport. But CUS is much smaller, so we had plenty of time to catch our flight. Once again we flew LAN, a...

We love Lima

The flight from Quito to Lima was around three hours and we landed at 8pm. On the flight I was sat next to Gaby, she was our age and from Miraflores in Lima, she was so helpful in telling us what to do, where to go, where to eat..she was a godsend, and she got us really excited about the place. She also holidays in Argentina lots so she even gave us another page of tips bout where to go when we get there! Our transfer from the airport to the hotel took us through the heart of the Lima as well...

Jazz is Pronounced "Yazz"

Bet you all thought you'd be getting a really exciting, in-depth article about the latest shaman I've visited or last week's deadly Communist protests; you know, the kind that we hear about all so often in the States. Well, sorry to disappoint but the truth is that Peru has a routine of its own and sometimes things aren't that different from back home. Still, I feel like I owe you all something especially with the lack of visual evidence coming in.

Miraflores

... only....

Today we walked all around Miraflores and ate at Punto Azul, a wonderful lunchtime restaurant recommended by Angelo - the only restaurant we saw all day that had a line of people waiting to get in. We dealt with that by continuing our walk and postponing lunch till 3 o'clock. We walked the length of Calle San Martin and Nancy took pictures of EVERY street sign and house name that mentioned Saint Martin. There were lots of them.

... over the river and head to a church we saw ahead but suddenly two police stop us and we are unsure why as we don't understand the Spanish easily but we eventually get that they are telling us to go back the other way and pointing at our watches we understand they are warning us this is an area for theft. So we do a quick return across the bridge and to the square nearby we find a tourist info booth where we are told by the man at the desk ...

Ride completed, its off to our hostal for the night in Santa Maria - a remote town with a dirt track for its main drag. The Bus Trip From Hell

... Quito as part of my around the world ticket and the tour wasn't scheduled to start for another week. So a day later Sarah and I caught a bus down from Le Serrina to Santiago. At the bus station in Santiago a funny incident happened. Sarah and I decided to get some food at the bus station once we arrived in Santiago while Sarah waited for her connecting bus to Argentina. I went to get some fried chicken at one of the fast food joints; at ...
