... br>We had a pleasant evening in one of the school halls on the island. The girls in our group were forced to wear traditional Peruvian dresses whilst us lads only had to throw on hats and a Poncho. The evening consisted of listening to the local band and learning various dance techniques. It was at this point that I managed to offend the matriach of the family. I was having some problems with my camera and was trying to take some photos of the ...
Amantani, Puno, Peru stuinamericas09... to our hut and we dressed up like them to go to the town party where we would meet the other townspeople and watch and learn the local dance. Check out the pictures, Dave and I make an awesome village couple!

The village party was a great time, there were lots of little boys and girls and a band that played and we watched the locals dance and then they taught us how to dance too. Then we danced with them and we all had a great time! Many good photos and lots of ...
Luquina, Puno, Peru thenahms... if they were white they were single, but if they wore a white belt and a red hat, well he’s currently living with someone but not yet married. There seemed to be plenty of white belts around. The ladies wore black shirts, a white blouse and if they were married they held, attached to their arm, a small colourful pompom. If they were single these pompoms were much larger and, I guess, used in courtship battles.

Our guide Ruben gave us a general talk on the ...
Puno, Peru casebrownfamily... Lima and a connection to Santiago. So tomorrow Is my last full day in Peru .. One of my favourite countries and a must visit for everyone.

Adios Peru and thanks for the memories.

UPDATE .. Just had a walk into Puno - Not a pretty town - and had a llama steak, it was quite nice, tasted just like a cheap steak. The peruvian name for it is alpaca, apparently there are two types of llama, one bred for the meat and one for the wool.... Stick with me guys, I´ll educate you.
Puno, Peru countyman... our stay.

Once aboard the boat, we travelled for a little over an hour to the islands of Uros (sp?), which are essentially flating reed islands constructed by a tribe of people that were forced off the maimland by competing tribes centures ago., They have adapted their lifestyle to being a floating set of small villages that live almost entitrely off the reeds that grow naturally on the lake, and the fish that ...
Puno, Peru srossb1971... my best but just could manage.I signalled that it was really nice though and I was full up. I think they understood.

We went back into our rooms and was followed by the women who dressed us up in tradtional clothes for the night. They put five skirts on me and a poncho on Mark. Looking really cool we headed back down the hill/mountain for a little barn dance with the locals. They did it first and then we had to copy. They didn´t look that impressed with our ...
Puno, Peru kmtour09... long it will took to walk once arround but some saied me 3 hours. So I simply began to walkalong one site. I tought it couldt be so difficult, as you allways see the lake on one site, so logically you cant miss a "comunidad" as all comunities have a port. But the people that know me, know that it exist only less people that have a worser orientation as I . And yes I get lost in some way. But as excuse I can say that it is really difficult to see where the way is and so ...
Puno, Peru rienBuenos Nochas Senors & Senoritas. Greetings from Puno, gateway to Lake Tits, short for Lake Titaccaca, the highest navigable lake in the world at approx 3900m. Puno´s about 500m higher than Cusco, a bit colder and less oxygen for sure. Today, i travelled the 350km in relative style, opting for the luxury tourist class service, Inka Express, which plys this well worn highway over the high Andean altiplano. Included in the service were a hostess with the mostess to serve us ...
Puno, Peru wadirunner... too early, either dancing about and expecting a tip, waiting about with llamas, alpacas and a ****ing owl hoping you´ll pay to pose with their menagerie, or generally trying to sell you their overpriced tat. There was also a hideous dirge pumping out from an antiquated sound system which further added to the horror. I was not in the mood and just wanted to go straight to the canyon... after all, that was the main point of the trip. There were several more stops along the way to ...
