    We spent a day travelling to Arequipa and it was very tiring. Woke up on New Years eve and went around the town seeing the colonial buildings all in the shadow of El Misti. Only at 2300m altitude but El Misti is a mere 5800m. Later on went to an 80's disco/restaurant to celebrate the new year. Happy new year to all. Pictures to follow!

    ... But no, despite getting there when it opened at 9 am it was very busy. The convent is huge! It used to house 450 nuns back in the 16th century and is described as a city within a city. It has named roads and is 4 acres. It is extreamely attractive as it is built from sillar which is a white volcanic rock.
