... new Menage et trois Midnight for $8.87 – maybe we’ll visit the vineyard tomorrow) and ate at the Black Bear Diner next door. We ordered the "smaller portion" meal, and left very full although left a bit, but it was still more than we’d usually eat: salad, huge corn muffin, 4 pieces of steak, a good helping of mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. Also, a bowl of gravy. Wow, no wonder some of the people here are so ...

... We went for a late lunch on the Old Fisherman's Pier at a restaurant called Café Fina. We sat at American Football coach John Madden's table and were warned by numerous signs that we'd have to move if he turned up. ... of sea lions, and saw a colony of them clustered round a jetty on the other side of the creek. On our way there, we stopped to see some seals, basking on the shore fairly close to us... and then another otter floating on his back in the lagoon. Woh! But it was soon supa mega woh as we pulled into the area near where we had seen the sea lions. There right below us was a large collection of them. Some on the pontoons sunbathing, others in the water swimming ...

... We arrived at our Travelodge just after 2 and checked into our room. We were only a short stroll from the main street so decided to go and explore. I was pleasantly surprised by Monterey which had a quaint and cosy feel. There were some lovely shops, bars and restaurants, and even a farmers market through the town. After we'd taken a bracing walk down to Fisherman's Wharf we were very much in need of a hot drink and found ...
