We then realised this would be the last glimpse of the Missip that we'd been following for over a week. Now it's onto huge lakes as we go towards Chicago .

Today we caught up with an old friend I'd volunteered with in Melbourne 4 years ago. Gee it was neat to see her again.

... Olive and Litchfield before joining I-55 towards Glenarm. At Glenarm I left the interstate to travel a short distance off Route 66 to view the Sugar Creek Covered Bridge which like Route 66 has been by-passed by a more modern bridge. ... the route are quite far apart. We back-tracked a couple times and finally gave up...we picked a GPS point down the road a few miles and drove to it with the hope that it was less cut up.
