Bucharest, Romania saktopheOK, it's now official. This weather is kicking my ass. Craiova and Piteşti were bad enough, but Bucharest just isn't giving the slightest relief. The whole of southern Romania is sweltering under temperatures upwards of 44°C, setting records and knocking the locals flat. There have already been numerous deaths across the country and the government basically came out today and said that workers should be sent home between 12 and 5. In fact, there's a code red out for most of the southern ...
Bucharest, Romania xerius... pe doua randuri. De departe iese in evidenta un stand destinat promovarii proiectului Cosmopolis, un cartier rezidential care se va construi in NE Bucurestiului dupa principiul 60% spatiu verde – 40% oras. Conceptul e interesant si mi-am propus sa urmaresc evolutia proiectului. Deocamdata totul e pe hartie.

... bread and honey kindly supplied by my recent German acquaintances. We had fun identifying (without too much difficulty) which of the students were still drunk as they trailed out for their cultural tour of Sibiu.
I thoroughly enjoyed the different taste that Romania offered. Sibiu is a quaint town, rudely interrupted by the odd 'skyscaper' on its eastern fringe. I think it adequately reflected the Romania that I saw in my brief four day ...

Bucharest, Romania buranowu... Those have probably been left by people who live in the towns and villages. I have no idea who feeds them or if anyone does. Most of them are on the skinny side but they aren't all rough looking street dogs. Some look like they are just out on a day pass and have owners somewhere. One thing I did end up doing on Sept. 21 in Bucharest was go to see a football game. I don't mean football as in soccer, I mean real football or American football as Europeans call it. Yes ...
Bucharest, Romania eileenj... 40 min for the same tube that just wouldn't come) with only a hour or so before we were meant to take off, so very stressed, but good old Heathrow didn't let us down and after only having to line up for 5 minutes to get our boarding pass, security was even less busy and we breezed through, though if I was a terrorist we would have been in trouble as my bag was x-rayed twice and then a man came over to check my liquids - (for those that haven't flown for a long ...
Bucharest, Romania giovanna... her gangsta look she too was very intent on how the seat cusion could be used as a flotation device. The flight was very ordinary on a brand new Boeing 737 jet, no turbulance and over in under two hours. When we landed the plane erupted in applause. Twice. I have only experianced that once before in my life on a flight to Winnipeg with terrible turbulance with a rather rough landing...none of which happened on this Blue Air flight from Bucharest to Rome.
Bucharest, Romania jay29... We drop our luggage in our rooms and head out to find water. A nearby 24-hour quick stop has a huge bottle of water. She tells me it costs 22. I just about pass out, as I figure that is close to $10 at 2.9 Romanian lei to the US dollar. She sees my horror and shakes her head. She gives me change for my 50 lei that adds up to 47.80, so when she said 22, she meant 2.2 - or just under $1. I think dealing with money here might be interesting, and I'll be holding up lines as I ...
Bucharest, Romania wareameye... oh! We were expecting the worst so were pleasantly surprised when it wasn't too bad. It was 3 people per room and the showers were warm - even if you splashed water EVERYWHERE because the curtain was seriously dodgy. I had the first shower and just used my towel to mop up after myself. Megan went next and added her towel to the pile and lastly it was Joss. Easy! There was lots of confusion with the Romanian money. There's old style stuff which says ...
