I arrived in Columbia, SC on October 6, 2009. It was a very small and clean airport. I went to go visit Lake Murray and it was nice, but nothing special. The trees are beautiful here and the weather was perfect. When I got to the hotel, I worked out, and was very hungry. I decided to walk around downtown to find food. I took pictures of the capital. Up at the crack of dawn today, and drove through to South Carolina. We stayed with friends from NH that recently moved down south. It was great for Gabi &amp; Heather to see each other: All the girls had fun, and sounds like they are still awake chatting now (12:30 am). They'll be cranky when I get them up at 6:30 to head out!

I'm actually writing this on day 2, and I didn't even count Monday or<br>Tuesday as days, because we wound up not even leaving on Monday, due to<br>problems with the old minivan we just bought. So I am completely terrified of this trip.  I have no idea what to expect.  I wan to do this because it is going to be a challenge for me.  I am an anxious person and to travel across the world and leave my friends and family behind is a big deal for me.  I want to succeed.  I do not want to fail.  I have yet to really throughly research this trip.  The strategy that I am using is the less I know about New Zealand, the less I have to worry about.  <br><br>
