    Day 1: I get moving early and go across to the little cafe in the square for the BnB provided breakfast of tea or coffee and a croissant. They have free wifi which works. Yes! The BnB wifi is useless! After breakfast I head off to the boat pier and get a day ticket for the Middle lakes area. 15 euro and can be used to get to Villa Carlotta, Bellagio, Menaggio and back to Varenna.     I'm trying to decide – what do you need and not need in life …

    I had a tooth filling fall out a couple of weeks ago. Kept meaning to go & see a dentist but finally got around to it today … I had been told the name of a dentist who spoke some English, not sure how much, who would be happy to see me.

    So I headed off on my bike … following the wonderful Google maps (& Here.com which is what I have on my Nokia phone.)

    ... That seems a bit odd. Not sure where the sand would come from. Probably just my eyes. We pass through lots of little villages which are very agricultural. It's so much more satisfying going by train than flying. It's not a cheap way to travel though. A Eurail pass would be the way to go if you're moving around a lot. The trains in Italy have been pretty good actually. I'm a little surprised. Although they're not suitcase friendly. They're not flat ...
