... and does not make a nice beach at all, but it does make a great place for coral to grow, and with coral comes all sorts of fabulous sea creatures. For the first time I saw a real live starfish! We also saw a variety of tropical fish and several sea urchins. The corals were sparse and not particularly vibrant but it was still encouraging to see them. I still can't believe that I managed to convince Dave to come to Punta Cana. It's not his type of place, to say the least. Between the beaches, buffets and sunburns, it was quite a culture shock for my boyfriend. He thought that we'd only see poverty, and while there certainly were some sad moments, he seemed shocked that this beautiful country's citizens were happy.
