More Mexico

Wooo Mexico! Playa was less touristy than Cancun, it has to be said. But still levels of tourism and expense!! Not much to write here really - spent my days enjoying the beach time, ooooh yeeaaaahhh. Found some nice spots for some sun-bathing (and shoulder-burning oops) so was nice to have a few days to relax before everything kicks off...!! Sacked off going to the ruins at Tulum (though may still steal other people´s photos..!) as wasn´t feeling too well on the first day there (the heat! Kil...

Journey to Playa del Carmen

Hola! Today we went on a bus ride from Merida to Playa Del Carmen We went to the markets and everyone bought all different stuff and S Club 7 got hassled by some crazy shop owners, and also a few of us went for a swim in the pool at the motel. Also on the bus we started to make a mexico song. Then we went to Burger King for dinner and on the way back we went to a shop called "moari fashion" and the lady didn't even know what maori was or where it came from "pffft" useless Mitchell

Tulum

In the morning at 8 we drove down to Tulum to see the Mayan ruins overlooking the carribean sea. The heat was very intense. We went for a swim and the water was really clear, blue and reasonably warm. The ruins were amazing and we saw some Iguanas. In the afternoon there was even more shopping and we also went to a cool arabian restuarant for dinner! Everyone had a good day and are starting to brown up. By Jono!!

Cenote adventure

Big day today. At 8am 4 x 4 vehicles were ready to take us south to the cenote park, our transport changed to unimogs which rocked us out of our seats. They teased us by stopping and stalling on hills. We got geared up with lifejackets and snorkels and jumped off into the beautiful clear water for our snorkel through the underground river. We got to explore and saw cool stalectites and on the way back up our guide tricked us by telling us we had to find the way out in the dark. We changed ceno...

Playa del Carmen

Thursday 8th Jan: We took the bus from the hotel to Valladolid at 11am and then from there to Playa Del Carmen arriving at around 2.30pm. We'd booked a hostel already to headed straight there and then to the beach for lunch. I'd left a bag of stuff I couldn't be bothered to carry around at the Hostel Playa so we went back to retreive it - I wasn't sure it'd still be there at all so was relieved to find it was, minus a couple of pairs of trousers, but hey ho ...

Cancun

- Men stranden er offentlig - No Problemos !

Tulum

and now i am back in mexico, in tulum. i have spent a day by the beach (just cause there ain't enough of that in cuba!) and am going to belize tomorrow. tulum is a nice city with an absolutely fantastic beach, the sand is v soft--might even be able to compare it with frasier island. anyway, i couldn't be ***** to visit the ruins as it's meant to be quite small. bought a postcard instead! watch out for the weary traveller... :)
