... better cut down, so that I can fit into my trousers! Today had lunch at the venue in the restaurant, lovely salad which was served in a metal pan and baked potatoes. Then out at dinner had a huge pizza, a chocolate soufflé - ************* the outside, but when I cut into it, all the flowing chocolate ooozed out. Then we went to the gelato shop, and I had a small one of those as well!. Piggy wiggy! I think it is Gerry's fault - she might be a bad influence!

They ask me to sit up in the chair for a few minutes, to check the local hasn’t killed off any essential brain-cells I guess, ask me if I’d like the tooth (which I did) and then I’m escorted off back upstairs.

There was one doggie thing that we have in NZ that the Americans didn't know about - dry bed. I am very pleased about that, because I have told them how great it is, so people have purchased it and I now get to sit on it which is much easier on the bum than the hard steps.

We were up at the crack of dawn at 5:30am and out of the loft at 6:45am. The vaporetto was very quiet although some other lines carrying morning commuters were busier. I informed Mel that this is the time the serious tourists are up and about, like my hero Rick Steves,…although I only noticed one person taking pictures.

All in all I'm glad we paid the extra money to stay right in Venice. And renting a private apartment provided a nice glimpse into living life as a ...
