... Vegueta. The architecture is Spanish and Canarian. Unfortunately, the Museum of the Canaries closed at 2 pm (on a Saturday!), but I did visit the Cathedral of Santa Ana and Columbus House Museum. Christopher Columbus stopped and stayed in the Canary Islands on each of his four expeditions, to provision his ships and prepare for his voyages of discovery of the New World (what he thought was India).

The next morning was very cloudy and dull and we just chilled in the morning until Jody arrived!! We convinced her back in madrid to come join us and she did. ... so far away. We relaxed by the pool and drank some overly cheap drinks before heading out for dinner. We stood at the door of a few different restaurants where everyone refused to look at us. Finally we found an Italian place that would at least make eye contact. It was bizarre.
Friday we went go-karting, played mini-golf, ate some really delicious peking duck for the first time in our lives (that we can recall) and walked along the beach, ...
... basic necessities like water. We arrived safely and eagerly stepped out of the cabin. Instantly I felt that dewy warmth on my dehydrated airplane skin. If I could bottle that feeling I would!
NB I'm still working out the kinks of this website. I'll publish this and then the next entry will be a continuation of our adventure in Spain.
... and showered in perfume...something that did not help my already sick stomach. At one point Mike looked at my literally green self curled into a fetal position on the bus bench and told me I was a fun date. When I recovered a few hours later I remembered to punch him in the arm. Our hotel room in Las Palmas was quite nice and comic book themed. It was quite a hike to the old town so we spent the better part of one of our days there ...
