      ... men of Aspra out to impress. The pole must jut out about 12m from the stage, is about 15-20cm in diameter, quite flexible under the weight of our young heroes and very greasy. The competition is to simply walk out along the pole, grab the flag at the end and accept the glory of the assembled crowd. Easy! Not sure how many had a go but it must have been about 50 before someone got there and triumphantly waved the flag above his head. All good fun ...

      We took advantage of our mobility and drove up the coast to Cefalu today. We decided to just follow the signs and stick to the coast road.
