... the tourist is central, not incidental, wasn’t entirely my kind of town though its strategic disposition on the massive crag, lording over the coast and enveloped in the aura of mighty Mount Etna to its south was compelling enough reason to stay. The town centre straddles the primary pedestrian thoroughfare, Via Corso Umberto, roughly confined between two archways-Porta Messina and Porta Catania- at its north and south ends respectively, within which lie a succession of ...

Today we went to Cefalu, a seaside town about an hour away from Palermo. Roads were once again very windy with lovely views. The road climbed through olive groves and gave us a final view of Cefalu. We stopped briefly at the Santuario di Gibilmanna then continued to climb until we entered a green valley, with the central Madonie massif behind.

Next stop was Castelbuono, named for its castle which was ...

Buon giorno! Good morning! Yesterday our plans to visit the aeolian islands didn't work out so we visited the coastal town of Cefalú instead and hoping to see the islands tomorrow. Cefalú is about an hour drive from where we are at in Furnari. We take the autostrada, the super fast highway, with beautiful views of the mountain on one side and the sea view on the other. I have to take a pic ...
