    When I went to open the shutter this morning the cord broke and with an almighty crash down it came. Luckily we had not left anything on the balcony as there is no way we would have been able to get it. The room was very claustrophobic with the shutter down so we left as soon as we could.     ... a top priority. Tried arancini, deep fried rice balls stuffed with a variety of savory ingredients. Pretty tasty. Gelato served in a kind of brioche was OK, but would have preferred it in a cone. Couldn't get Karen to try the Pani ca meusa, though. Its a sandwich of beef spleen and lungs dipped in boiling lard. Where's your sense of adventure?

    Another beautiful morning. Breakfast was served at 8.30 with croissants, lemon cake, honey dew, fruit juice, yoghurt etc etc..a full spread! Now driving to Palermo which is the capital of Sicily.
