This morning was an early start (6 AM) to catch the TGV train to Geneva. We had to take the metro to Paris Lyon, where we bought lunch for on the train, and then caught it to Switzerland. It was a bit slower than the Eurostar and took around 4:30. Otherwise it all went smoothly though. Once in Geneva, we caught the tram to CERN, the end of the line, and were slowly transferred ...
... It was put into perspective, somewhat, when we read that a basic meal at McDonald's would cost $14. (Switzerland uses Swiss Francs, fairly close to the U.S. dollar in value. Less than a Euro.)

After a 9.5 hour flight to Frankfurt, a long bus ride at the airport to the next plane, and a short 50 minute flight, we are in Geneva. Figured out how to take a bus to the hotel, overpaid, arrived and finally got our room. Slight problem with our reservation - they had us down for 2 people only. Kids will have to sleep outside in the rain ;-) --- Went downtown and joined a festival... Walked around, ate drank, got wet, and enjoyed the fireworks... Everyone is beat... Off to ...

Why going to Geneva? Ok so my first reason to go to Geneva is because I have been offered a job there. And this actually is my main reason. This job is a great opportunity and I will work with someone I will get on well. Plus it is much closer from home. I wanted to find my next job in Europe so this is perfect.
