We're Down Under!!

1st four days - We stayed in the 4 star Carlton Crest Hotel beside Darling Harbour which is around the corner from Sydney's main harbour. There is lots going on there, loads of bars and restaurants, nice fountains and pathways to walk and easy access to the city centre. Our first couple of days were spent exploring around the harbours and city centre and getting ready for Xmas. We were planning on going to a beach on Xmas Day with a picnic lunch and a bottle or two of wine, except that instea...

I hate boats...

And so to Sydney, and my final week with Debbie until mid-December. Debs had her shop-dar set to hyper-sensitive frequency, so we made the most of the few shops that Sydney has! First I made her at least see the iconic Sydney sites, the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Walking away from the Opera House, we saw that a whale-watching tour was about to leave so we thought 'why not?'. Back on dry land my only thought was 'why the hell did I think that would be a good idea?'. It was a near 4 ho...

Sydney and Down Under Summary

... as well as great company.
First couple of days it was raining so I didn't get to see much. If nothing more it was at least an opportunity to switch the day cycle and enjoy Sydney's night life, which is rightfully well known.
Three days seemed to be enough to see the main attractions. The core centre can be easily walked through in two hours. Apart from obligatory Kodak moments at Opera ...

A return to the Western World!

... Joe, who is apparently very famous in Australia too. They just happened to have a couple of passes left, so they let us in, along with about 100 other people. It was taped and broadcast through Itunes as the pre-release promo. The Sydney Operahouse was lit up for a special show, so they had the sides of it decorated with colored lights, it was beautiful. The highlight of my trip was my second skydive. I had a great ...

... as withing the first 10 minutes she had lifted up the arm rest lain down and gone to sleep. She woke up about 20 minutes before the end!!! After that we went and sat in Darling Harbour for a while which is so beautiful and then took the train to Bondai to sit on a very windy beach for an hour watching all the surfers before heading back to the hostel to pick up our bags, grab Vinny and head to the joy of the 12 hour bus drive down to Melbourne to see the one and only Danni....................

2 years....no way long enough!

... up with the other cousins and wives/partners. Jeff and Fi cooked a cow and a sheep (not literally but enough to feed a small army) and we had a great evening with lots of "do you remember" moments. Hopefully and with many thanks to the email gods, we will all stay in touch now as it's so true that family become more important as you get older. We have managed to play loads of badminton at various clubs, all of them with very good ...

Sydney - 13/3/09 to 25/3/09

... no women in sight!!!! - Coogee to Bondi Beach - we took the bus to Coogee and then walked the coastal path to Bondi. It took us all day, but we did stop for a few hours at Clovelly, another stop (for not so long) at Bronte and then onto Bondi and the bus back to the city. It was a brilliant day and well worth the effort to walk it. We packed quite a bit in to the 2 weeks we were in Sydney, but there was loads more on our list to do (good excuse to go back!!!)

The REAL Down Undah!

Sydney has treated me very well so far. LOVE the city. I honestly haven't done much more than wander around a few days and spend a few more on some of the local beaches, which ROCK. The nightlife here has been a great change from Asia and I've been partaking a bit too much, ifyaknowwhatimean.

One highlight was a ...

Coffs Harbour – Sydney

(Originally published at http://www.troysgonewalkabout.com)
< br>Coffs Harbour is more than just host to a Hollywood brawler – it’s most famous for the Big Banana. From the Big Merino to the Big Orange there are scores of ‘Big’ things plonked in towns all over Australia, and in fact we’d gone straight past the Big Prawn the day before and only narrowly missed sighting the Big Pineapple on the Sunshine Coast earlier in the ...
