I made it to Oslo, Norway. We left Lansing approximately 4:30pm on June 30th. We arrived in Oslo at about 10:00am on July 1st. We were on United from Lansing to Chicago. Sightseeing in Oslo
Yesterday we saw several museums around Oslo. Oslo has a museum district on a peninsula, called Bygdoy. We walked down to the waterfront from the hotel and caught a ferry to the peninsula. The ferry was a good way to see the city from the water. Once on the peninsula we could walk to all the museums. We went to the Fram Museum, the Norwegian Ship …

Our first day in Oslo
... till the end of Aker Brygge and luckily, we were near the launching place! Wow!!!
And wow indeed! We watched at 10 (if not more) minutes of fireworks, filled with amazing colours and shapes, which gave Oslo snowy sky much more light and colour that had! People are cheering and celebrating and we did exactly the same!!
And so, from Oslo, we say: Godt Nytt År, Happy New Year, Feliz Ano Novo!

... can still be seen today. Coal mining ended in the 1960’s and in recent years, Ny Ålesund has become a mulitnatioanl scientific research community with several countries maintaining research stations here manned year round.
We did spot a couple of reindeer wandering around, but perhaps the most intriguing thing we found was an ID card in the name of Santa Claus! How fitting that our expedition “In the footsteps of Santa” should end in this way…..!! ...
