Martine drove us through the Pyrenées into Spain, this morning. We explored San Sebastián and then had tapas for lunch. It was fun to try out our Spanish. We found a great ice cream shop and also bought some souvenirs. From there, we went back into France and spent some time in Saint Jean de Luz. This town is famous because it is here that Louis XIV married Eugenie of Spain, forming the Peace Treaty of the Pyrenées. Lastly, we went to ...

Basically Al and I have been content to walk through the streets of Biarritz, along the winding beach front pathways and through the village centre looking at the ancient buildings, basking in the scenery and weather and marvelling at the whole idea of driving over here. Honestly, I don't know how they do it! Australians couldn't handle it. ...

... was. We could have sat elsewhere but we decided to go by our tickets and sit in the numbered seats corresponding to them, right at the front of the bus. Excellent!

The bus journey was much more pleasant that the one we took on Sunday to Stansted and I was keeping my eyes peeled for the border between Spain and France. The bus was stopped by police as we were required to present our passports, and I realised that we were in Hendaye. Looking back later, I ...
