      ... They used to serve beer in glass boots, but apparently too many were stolen so they stopped that tradition. Home relatively early that night. About 9.00.       ... had really started to build, and it was beginning to rain. We looked for somewhere to sit down for a cup of coffee and chose a cafe on the edge of the square. It turned out to be an up market silver service place and our coffees set us back 18 euro (A$28). Ouch.

      Big adventure day again. We trekked into Venice which was a good 80 minutes away. After a few false starts as to where exactly we should park, we finally crossed our first pedestrian bridge into this romantic city.       ... are very friendly; breakfast is good; it is so handy to the station & buses as well as the tourist attractions and yet is in a quiet street even though that is one street from the station; it's on the first floor and there is a cute old style lift if needed; and you get free wifi through the hotel next door! (it has the internet at €5 for 24 hrs). The only tricky thing is the small size of the shower, but not too bad.
