We have stayed in the hotel and the motel. I prefer the motel. You have your own door and get to avoid elevators. Newly redone but in a 60's theme. Very clean. Plenty of space. Refrigerator and microwave. Hairdryer. Nice shampoo and conditioner plus soap. Table for work or eating at. Nice flat screen tv. Air conditioning works excellent. Extra pillow and blanket available already in the room. Will stay again. Love this place. Attached restaurants are excellent and I recommend those as well. Parking included. Great neighborhood. Worth a stay!

Stay in the motel for a charming experience. You have your own door to the outside and avoid elevators. Redone recently in 60's motif. Refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, table for work, nice flat screen, coffee pot. AC works great. Extra pillow and blanket in the room. Decent size closet and huge chest of drawers. Definitely worth a stay. We will always return.

Yay we are going to Chicago today!! Happy dance!! We get a cab to the airport and just as we get there Shannon notices that he does not have his phone (his lifeline) so Clint rings the hotel and of course no there is no phone left here or in the room (very strange considering we only left there 20mins ago and Shan went from the room to reception …

... also visit the museum and studio of Frank Lloyd Wright, but you can also just take a walk in the town and see houses built by him. His style is the Prairie Style and quite frankly I didn't like. Houses look like fortresseses and have very small windows. But well, everyone has different taste ;)

... br> We decided to waddle to the Hancock center and go up top to the observatory. This proved both a good idea and perfect timing: the sun was just starting to set and the views were beautiful through the clear glass, as opposed to the wiry mesh of either the CN tower – or as Sophie said, the Seears tower in Chicago, up which she had already been. It was also not at all busy like the Seears tower.

Many photos later, we headed back to the hostel to get ready for that ...

... Last night's fog had lingered, and the buildings on the edge of Lake Michigan were enveloped in what we could only describe as a sea mist - very unusual, according to Max. On our way between Water Tower Place and the hotel we took a detour to what turned out to be a University enrolment day - Dearborn Street was closed to traffic, a band was playing in the middle of the road, stalls offered incentives for students to select certain classes etc. We spent the afternoon ...

8pm double decker train - exciting, we are upstairs, there's still no wifi - why Amtrak! Why must you lie! We will get there at 6.30am, another early start. The staff are lovely, definitely starting to experience that infamous Southern Hospitality. I sleep a few hours then decided 2am is when my cough gets to unbearable to sleep through. I have upset many passengers - I ...
