... arrived we walked through one of the largest and most fabulous train stations in Germany. It also must be one of the coldest! We don't know how, but it was easily ten degrees colder inside the station than it was outside. Did someone accidentally choose cold AC instead of heat?! Trains from 9am-5pm to get to the other side of Germany. Loooong trip via Frankfurt and Cologne, but it was very interesting to see the countryside. It was Beautiful through the Rhine Valley. ... has suggested we visit enroute. Bamberg is one of them and is supposed to be one of the most attractive towns in Germany..we'll see!

Today we travelled through a lot of rural Germany. The question we kept asking was 'where are all the people?' Even around the hotel in this residential area, nobody was outside, no people walking along the pavements..really strange..as if The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes had happened!

... Scandinavian cruise. They met me at the train station and we took a train to Friedrichstraße and found a pleasant café with outdoor seating for lunch. We continued to talk until mid-afternoon about travels and a variety of topics. We then met their son and family for an enjoyable and informative sightseeing boat tour on the Spree River.
