... Napoleon lost the battle of Waterloo.
Following the tour of the palace we had a quick look at the orangery. This was a huge outdoor room with large windows facing south for the winter sun and heated by 10 large underfloor heaters to keep the temperature at about 10 degrees throughout the cold winter. The orangery was empty as all of the plants had been moved outside for summer. They are all moved back in during winter. The orangery is filled ...

... Opera in Paris. Hotel Astra Opera also gets a nod for the best service from the Coffee God offering refills. Best coffee from a machine - Hotel Turnerwirt, had a programmable machine that made a pretty darn good latte. Best scrambled eggs - Hotel Astra Opera in Paris. (what can we say, the ...

Our camera, iPad & kindle run flat pretty quickly and with no means of charging it we are relying on ...

Another awesome day in Vienna. Today we went to this place called Prator which is a huge playground with heaps of rides. Some extreme and some of the more traditional. Boys had a few rides and we all went on the famous Ferris wheel that is 100 mtrs high and offers great views over Vienna (see photos). This Ferris wheel was originally built in 1767!! It was however bombed during WW2 and then they replaced the old wooden structure into ...

    ... passes.

In Vienna, we had no trouble reaching our apartment, settled in, then did a quick recce of the neighbourhood and some expensive grocery shopping. We are staying within the Ringstrasse, which is a ring road encircling a lot of the beautiful old town, palaces and museums. Hopefully we can walk most places, even though tomorrow's forecast is 27deg. ...
