... friends home! This former artist´s club is located in a 17th century townhouse in the heart of the old town and it literally boosts with history! Back in the 19th century it was the summer residence of "Eugenia de Montijo" (Empress and wife of Napoleon III) and "Ferdinand de Lesseps" (architect of the Suez Canal)! The absolutely perfect renovation and divine interior of this landmark townhouse make you fall back in time ...

... t think I will quite be able to until I take a trip to a different country so I have something to compare it to. But first, like I said, I really want to get to know Andalusia and to orient myself. I wish I would have written more entries while I was traveling before ISA started, like while I was in Madrid and Torrevieja, but at least this is a start.

... for a couple hours, swam in the Mediterranean, had a coffee in Plaza de la Constitución, saw an art exhibit on Charlie Chaplin, and went out with another Auxiliar named Corey from Chicago and two Austrians. Hard life right?
The Chaplin exhibit was really brilliant. There were photos of Chaplin as well as clips from his films which are hilarious. I hadn´t seen much of his work before but he seemed like a pretty talented and well rounded person.

... me from the train station to my hostel and we waved hello to each other. About five minutes later he drove right up next to me and got out of his car to talk to me. He asked me If I wanted to hang out and told me how he meant to give me his number before but forgot, dada yada yada. I said of course I’d love to hang out because I know no one! I really was getting a bit bored of wandering all alone with no friends, so I was so happy to have Francisco the taxi man ...

... Our giant bus didn´t help matters either and the situation devolved into one giant mass of gridlocked honking. And some of you Spaniards have some really whimpy car horns!! Get you a real horn, something substantial that isn´t like the bells on an ice cream truck.

The bus driver would lay on the horn for 30 seconds at a time and twelve rows back I could hear all sorts of Spanish cursing flying out of his mouth. I ...

My first day in Spain was a blur, seeing as we got our wake-up call at 2:30 in the morning so we could catch or 8:00 flight from London Gatwick to Málaga. My friend Mirella and I sat on the top front row of the double-decker bus that was the ride for us 55 students to the airport. We literally felt transported to the night bus from Harry Potter - it was dark and rainy as we careened around corners through the narrow streets of the city ...

... here for a night, and there´s a walking tour that our group leader has mapped out for us. I´ll do that tomorrow... then we´re off again. Dinner was at a restaurant overlooking the gorge which separates the town. Had stunning views at sunset, but the food really wasn't that great. But I suppose the view did make up for it. After dinner we went to a great outdoor bar where a latino band were playing. It was a great atmosphere for a summer night ...

... work and one or two works by Velaquez. The rest, however, were something similar to a Tijuana painting of Elvis as Jason put it. When we decided we were done in Madrid we took off for Grenada. We were driving over 240 miles of high desert. Halfway through this trip we find out the hard way you get what you pay for.
