Check "climb the falls" off our bucket list

... far, climaxing at a crystal clear underground lake. Upon our return to the main entrance we were treated to some really fine tasting fruit juice made on the island.

From the caves we went to the Dunn’s River Falls and that too was spectacular. The falls themselves are absolutely beautiful and to look at them they appear to be quite fast and strong. Which is intimidating when you’re challenge is to climb them, not on your own but in a chain holding hands with ...

No!! We don't want a taxi....

... were really keen for sales. We just bought some sunscreen and came back on board the ship. We all went back to the H2O zone and enjoyed the relatively empty pool area.

It was another incredibly hot day so it was very relaxing to just kick back and hang out by the pool. Now THIS is a holiday!!

After dinner we put the girls to bed and went watch the show.

Port of Call for the big cruise ship

Ocho is an interesting city, divided by a straight line, on one side (from the center to the port), relatively safe area day and night, upscale boutique, restaurants and on the other side, the chaos and not so safe area. There are a few hundreds meters of beachfront.

Jamaica

... try it.

This trip was different from the experience we had in Maui as the guides in Jamaica operated this tour in a methodical and quick paced way. In Maui, it was a much smaller group of people and the pace was much slower. The guides in Jamaica were professional and nice and we felt safe, but the experience went by very fast. We had a good time but would have preferred ...

Italian Charm with a Caribbean vibe.

... including chefs, and managers. If you enjoy Italian Sandals Dunn's River is the place to go!

Originally built in 1958 as an Arawak Hotel, the property has a rich history, having changed hands several times. In the 1970's it was transformed by the famed architect Morris Lapidus into the Eden II. In 1990 the property came under the ownership of Sandals, was gutted to the bone, and a new pool was installed, incorporating a ...

Saint Bonaventure Jamaica Service Trip 2008

... carrying buckets resulting in unattractive chemical burns. We decided to water the solution down a lot when we got back especially since the children aided the people in the whitewashing. Despite what we were doing we always were the centre of harassment by passer bys. I understand where they're coming from. After finishing, we were climbing into the van and I witnessed the most distraught face displayed on one young boy. Even though he was truly sad we were leaving I felt better ...

My birthday trip - first time in Ocho Rios

... not seen her again since, we still talk all the time and I'm planning on seeing her again for my birthday this year (2008). The next morning we wake up really early. One thing about Jamaica is that no one sleeps in there, including me. Its so easy to wake up and start the day early there, its always bustling from about 6am. Reggae music is already in the air in the distance, people are out washing their cars, etc. Its just easy. Alice made some coffee ...

Day 2 and 3

... time....but now its okay and I actually like it better. Last night we took a nap then went to Arizona's for dinner. It used to be on the beach but now its on the pier. Very good BBQ ribs and T-Bone steak. Before our nap we went swimming in the beautiful Caribbean! We were so tired we were in bed by 10:30pm. Today we got up at like 7:30am ...

Blue Mountain Trip

... trees, lichen, and mosses; the sign at the top states that this is "an elfin woodland." The entire trip took about 8 hours, and we returned to Wildflower Lodge at about 2pm. We were all pretty tired from getting up early and our long hike. I spent the afternoon napping and reading and taking in the views. It was nice to have nothing really to do other than just being. I was sad to leave that place because it offered so much peace and joy for me, hiking ...

I Came. I Saw. I LEFT!

This was a horrible nasty little place I hope to never see again. When you walk down the street, it is filthy and taxi drivers nag at you and then throw insults when you refuse to take a taxi. I Came. I Saw. I LEFT! One almost saving feature of this hideous place was swimming in the water, but even that turned south when I felt what I believe to be a sewer pipe under my feet.
