... of French soldiers were present tonight and played a minor role during the service. Each night has been different but very moving on every occasion. I am pleased we left our warm room to attend this service each of the three nights we have been in Ieper. Ate at a cafe across the square from Old Tom. Made the mistake of having soup and a main meal and so could not finish our dishes. Had a pleasant chat with three English ladies and then headed for the hotel about 22.15. A good end to a big day ...

... 8211; in French!! The SIM credit was valid for 3 months but I could not establish the call rates at all, so looked up the Orange website that evening. It was all in French with no option for translation. I tried to squeeze it through Google Translate but it made very little sense and most of the information was inside pictures which doesn’t translate. So I’m none the wiser but as I will hardly ever be using the phone, it shouldn’t matter too much. ...

... for the centrum. First stop the little pub with the atmosphere - decided it is not the smallest - and so then we searched for it!! Found it and of course sampled their own beer and I had a peach beer - it was great - really great!! So now in search of a reasonably priced place to eat! Found one - nearly got locked in the "loo" that would have been interesting - not sure how long before Garry sent out a search party!! ...

... no solo en las malas. Porque cuando uno quiere a una persona, se alegra cuando sabe que uno está alegre. Disfruta de eso, disfruta del compartir. Y les doy gracias a esos que lo hacen, por estar siempre. Fue una sensación extraña, pero me encantó meditar SOLO en el medio del mundo.

... soup. I learnt some Canadian slang for budgie smugglers - they call them 'banana hammocks' which I thought was hilarious and couldnt stop laughing about, i honestly cant remember how that conversation started.
