        ... very compelling and makes for a very sober day.

        We visited a number of war cemeteries including Passendale, Tyne-Cot and Nine Elmes, Poperinge where Gayle's Great Uncle David Gallaher is buried, one of three brothers killed in the area. David was Captain of the 1905 All Blacks. Douglas Gallaher is buried at Rue Petillon and Henry was buried where he fell at the attack on Villers-Bretonneux.

        ... that music is to be enjoyed by everyone, even if you cannot afford it for any reason. The sounds he created were quite magical.

        ... There is even a small street cleaner machine called the Glutton. Most people are at ease speaking English here, with French a close second. The Flemish Dutch that is the main language is seen in menus and street signs. Everyone tells us that we must see Bruges at night as it is all lit up.         ... it was hilarious to make up a story about me getting bitten by a swan.

        Unfortunately the Flemish painters’ exhibition, the Michelangelo sculpture and the Hospital Museum were all shut by that time, so we just hung out at the Hostel all night.         ... line of cars with darkened windows was waiting to take DC and his retinue to wherever they were going and we were reduced to the ignominy of having to line up for a taxi.
        What do you think about that, now! We didn't get his autograph. We got nothing except a very nice dinner and a lot of amusement. And I'm hoping you can enjoy the story too.
