... visa applicants have to go to the Moscow embassy to apply, even if they live 5000 miles away in Vladivostok. So now, I have to go to London to present myself in person. Fair enough. And then the Chinese visa. A little less onerous but still involves lots of financial outlay. So now it's just waiting until my new passport arrives and then trusting a Russian travel agency with hundreds of pounds for the vague promise of train ...

... but I felt the climate of fear and ultra security (especially in Cape Town) suffocating and I was happier over the border in Botswana. Namibia would also require more time, especially in the far north. The biggest two disappointments were Ecuador and Thailand. We come well rested and prepared. We know it is going to be a big weekend. The question is are we ready for it? I have my newly acquired All Blacks Jersey nicely tucked away in my bag.

... the perimeter of the Stone henge so no one could could walk around the inside. This was good and bad. Good because it meant that the archeological ground wouldn't be affected by millions of tourists and that you could take photos of the Stonehenge without millions of tourists affecting the photo.
