Datça, Iske Datça and the Esme Sultan

A travel blog entry by famlitz on Oct 27, 2015

After a breakfast consisting of eggs and bacon, we headed back to a little bit more of civilization to Datça. On the way we took a right to head for the old houses of Datça. Here we found my birthday presents. A silver ring with a milk opal and the Hand of Fatima as an opal. We then went to the harbor for a coffee, looking at tiny yachts and having my handbag repaired which was a birthday present ...

Sometime early this morning there was a thunderstorm. It wasn't so bad, but there is a leak into the roof in our bedroom. On Karstens side of the bed. The next days are supposed to be dry so we hope the drips will stop soon. Breakfast was taken in at the Restaurant Tuna. Eric had an omelette and we had pita bread ...

Down the street a small restaurant with Turkish appetizers. No internet. That might take some getting used ...

... trip out go the sea. Gumşüluk host and under water city. The king's road is under water. The road leads to a city currently being discovered. We walk on the 2000 year old road. The water reaches my knees at low tide. The place sunk during and earth quake centuries ago. It's back to Bodrum and a quick tour of St Peter's castle. Buy passage to Datça on tomorrow's ferry. Be glad to leave Bodrum -Bedlam-behind. The ferry ride to ...

We arrived in Bodrum in Turkey and hopped aboard our Turkish Gulet. It's a traditional Turkish boat. Our captain was Oolash, his crewman was Uur and our Cook was Bydem. We headed out cruising down the coast. The water was incredibly blue and warm! We saw sea turtles, jellyfish and garfish. Greg caught a moray eel. We ate A LOT! No chocolate for Mrs K when I get back!! Everyday we ...
