... 8 hours until 6pm and see if there are any no-shows or go to Vogelweh. Vogelweh was a more expensive option but a sure thing and I could have it immediately.
We weighed all the factors and decided that in our exausted condition, Vogelweh was the best option so we picked up our rental car and headed out.
... and a plate of whipped cream with chocolate sprinkles on it. The pot made three cups of hot chocolate. We walked back to the boat in time for lunch. During the afternoon we cruised the Rhine Gorge where we saw many castles on both sides. Some were ruins but some have been restored. Some are owned by the German Youth Hostel organization and are used for that purpose.

... Steakhouse). As people who travel often we wondered what the food was going to be like as we know Germans love their food and large portions. The food was well cooked and tasty, and the service was excellent. We were surprised in the steak house we ordered Rib eye Steak and got Fillet Steak although perfectly cooked not what we ordered (although we only paid for Rib eye), but everything else with the meal was extra ...
Hahn, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany madcaravanner... Reinfels Ruins, which was once the greatest castle in all of Germany. We even tried to go down to the mine tunnels, crawling underground with just a flashlight to guide the way. Unfortunately we hit one too many dead ends and so we didn´t get too far. Just as we were leaving, the rain started up again. After huddling together for our ¨picnic on the Rhine¨ underneath one of the signal towers, we decided to brave it back to Bacharach. We were ...
Bacharach, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany tommcatt... path from Roman times and earlier.
The main feature of the trip was the many castles spread along the route. Most of these were to enforce river tolls, or to claim various sections of the river for a particular baron or, in later years, as elaborate residences for the rich. Dad bought a book about the castles that provided more information to complement the commentary provided on the boat.
... And if we were to leave the car, we should return to the car right after the fireworks in order not to block the road, once it reopened. This made both arrival and departure very easy.
The fireworks cannot be described, but the pictures from my very light sensitive Panasonic digital camera will best give a taste of what one can experience in these fireworks. The most amazing ...
September 1997 My journeys would now take me to a part of the world that I've never been to ... but have always wanted to go to, Europe and more specifically, Germany. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time nor the freedom to explore the way I'd want to, but I did get to see some of the countryside nonetheless. The majority of my time in Germany was spent in a town called Bad Kreutznach ...
Bad Kreuznach, Germany gr8ful_deadbeat... deal than in other countries, with people often getting 3000 euros or more worth of gifts. All for going to the church for a few hours. Although this church service was suprisingly good, with a few unstoppable bursts of laughter as my host mum and I attempted pathetically to sing the hymns. After the service we headed to the celbrations at a local pub, where everything tasted delicious except the soup ...
Bad Kreuznach, Germany seb89... We dropped off our luggage and headed in Kaiserslautern. We took a cab (€15) and ate dinner at a little outdoor bistro. We traveled smarter on the way back and took the bus (€3.40). It was a terribly long walk from the bus stop to our room via the guard gate (about a mile or two) but only a few feet via a seven foot brick wall. I won't admit to scaling the wall of a military installation... but we got back to our room quickly.
