Not entirely shure, if I spend my last day in a foreign country, I head towards north. A stopover at Novi Ligure provides me finally the opportunity to send a notification to all family and friends about my remaining itinerary before return back home. The date has been fixed to the 29.
The ride up to Vercelly in the low lands was not that exciting like the sighting of the mountain of Mont Blanc in the far. Since my ...

The Matterhorn

I am only stayin the night just to see the Matterhorn. The sun is out and I took a hike up nearby hill. It was about an hour and a half uphill walk with regular short stops to catch my breath. I think I have had enough of hiking now, I did 4 hours of it at Montreux as well, I must have the best **** at the moment. Spectacular view of the mountain at the hilltop though. It's less of a mountain and more of a giant pinnacle of rock. It looks menacing, to prove it there is a nearby graveyard full ...

On the other side was Jungfraujoch which has the highest railway station in Europe but it was horrendously expensive!! It was -6 up there but lovely and sunny BUT guess who didnt have her sunglasses. ... that I have much to compare it to, but I wouldn’t argue with that. Pictures will tell that story.

Shortly after I got to the hostel I met Bill, a retired engineer from Baltimore. He’s a pretty experienced hiker and I decided to go with him on a "six hour" hike the next day. That six hour hike turned into nearly 10, but it was entirely worth it. I can’t count the number of ...

Switzing It Up

... isn't too busy here with tourists but many of the trails are closed because it is almost winter. I woke up early and packed a lunch so I could hike up to the top of a mountain, but basically anything high was closed the tourist information office said. I took a lift up to Murren, and then did a hike called the Northface Hike, which was the hardest hike available. It had the scenic view of the ...

On the Up and Up

... have pulled off a consolidation and now are one town. My hotel was in the Montana part, near most of the shopping areas, below a bar complete with Roger Federer at Wimbledon and the Euro Cup. Dinner was at the hotel, then we had the town to discover for the rest of the night. If you want amazing mountain views and high end shopping, then come to Crans-Montana

Riding on a Bus

... of there army and the general life style of the people. In Lauterbraun we stayed in a campsite in a valley of the swiss alps. We were right across from a waterfall that fell from this huge cliff face. We had diner that night and then went to the bar and hung out for a bit. In the morning we took a train up the mountains to Jungfrau, which is the highest point in Europe that ...

Lauterbrunnen Return

... Gabrielle and Marla had stopped by there earlier on a morning walk but it wasn't open.  We double parked in front of the church, figuring that we wouldn't actually be there long, and headed inside.  The church had been painted by a disciple of Leonardo Di Vinci in 1529, and the style showed a little.  The main fresco covered a huge portion of a wall inside the church and displayed Jesus' crucifixion.  The rest of the church wasn't too opulent ...

... reach Lauterbrunnen. Cabins are beautiful, a huge waterfall is just behind the cabins, makes a nice noise. One thing to mention about the Swiss, their army is huge!! Every man has to undergo army training and has a gun in their house. At any one time their is 20,000 on duty and another 600,000 that can be called up. As well as this they have tunnels running ...
