... to be a great experience. We felt like part of the family. Bailey and Gina opened the kitchen and allowed Steve to bartend. After all, they were busy preparing our gormet dinner. We met some great people (Hello, Kim and Meg). Once daylight came, we realized that the view from Bay Hill Towers must be the best in St Vincent. And... we could see Bequia from our room.

...so close but still a million miles away (we thought about swimming it)
Saint Lucia, Saint Lucia 4thegoodtimesWe hired a driver for transfer from the inernational airport to the Rodney Bay area (~ 1 hr 20 min drive). I would highly recommend the serives of Paul with Fabian Tours St. Lucia - info@fabiantoursstlucia.com. Thanks for all of the good info about St.Lucia, Paul.

Enjoyed our night at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort. Our room was ...
Saint Lucia, Saint Lucia 4thegoodtimesThe race to vacation has finally ended. Yay! On our way to Bequia (pronounced Beckway. Does David Beckham really own the island and do we really have to do it his way?). First an overnight in St. Lucia, and then a quick hop to St. Vincent tomorrow AM, and finally a ferry to paradise. We are running on fumes right now, but thoughts of the islands ...
Saint Lucia, Saint Lucia 4thegoodtimes... the sea with my own hammock. The little birds were really tame and came and sat on my hammock and took biscuits from my hand.

Me in my hammock Ti Kaye
Dinner at Ti Kaye Village was fab, then it was straight off to Anse-La-Raye Fish Friday. This happens every Friday night. It’s a street party that has been happening for hundreds of years, where locals set up BBQs on the street selling ...
Rodney Bay, Minas Gerais, Saint Lucia kat-hayter... in Finland I was the only person to fall off my sledge when my huskies weren’t even on the move. So you get the picture, not exactly Action Woman. But I am willing to give anything a go, and throw caution to the wind for the opportunity to go to the Caribbean.

What I am though is animal mad. I hear St Lucia has lots of exotic birds and sightings of dolphins and whales are a common ...
Rodney Bay, Minas Gerais, Saint Lucia kat-hayter... off the ship, we followed our guide to our air-conditioned mini bus where we drove through the capital (Castries) viewing the colourful buildings, houses and landscape. Picture perfect.

Our first stop was at Morne Fortune where we had a dramatic overview of the harbour below and of the town. Far away, the island's trademark "The Pitons" could be seen. The view was breathtaking. At that exact moment, I thought to myself ...
Saint Lucia, Saint Lucia momentsintime... 20 minutes, the little town was invaded by tourists. The street where our vans stopped were lined with stalls selling various trinkets. One product this island is known for is banana ketchup which every stall seemed to sell. I had a small sample of it but was not impressed. Shea spent her time here waiting in line to use the women's bathroom. While I decided to wander around the immediate vicinity and made my way over to the beach. Besides a few wandering chickens and some fishing ...
Castries, Saint Lucia royv1... our boat was stuck waiting for a larger tourist boat to unload before we could get on, so we started out the day running a little late. We took our 45-60 minute boat down to the south end of the island to a very small beach resort with a spectacular view. The size of the mountains coming straight out of the water was impressive which meant beach space was at a premium. There was a steel drum band and a small table of food and champagne along with some chairs for the ...
Castries, Saint Lucia usmcsniper... had the mahi mahi. It was fantastic. The atmosphere is very laid back , and every song the band plays is a known song turned into a carribean beat of reggae. We went back to the cottage and crashed. We were both very tired. All in all it was a very hard day. To get there and see that it was worth all the travel was a great feeling.
Castries, Saint Lucia roman1987... costs run at about US $35 - 50 an hour, a figure that could be halved if people did a proper day's work. Too many late nights in the rum shops don't help either! Crime is at a very low level and the streets are safe to walk. There are not a whole lot of lampposts to bang into or, come to that, cause to do so. Boobologists visiting these islands will find little of interest after the spoils of South America. I should mention the transport system, which is reminiscent of the informal ...
