    ... Karjat route is a difficult one and that’s what we were here to experience! After a short break for tea at a local stall, we started to climb the fort at around 2pm. The stall owner told us that the climb would be for about 30 mins. We again forward calculated and assumed that in the next 4.0 hours, we would get back to the base camp at Karjat (2:30 on top of fort, 3:30pm back to base village, ~6pm at Karjat base camp).

    ... enjoyable sites; an incredible Jain temple built entirely from marble (as Jain religion doesn’t believe in harming any living things and insects could live and die in holes in concrete); a massive cow shed in the middle of the city, where the cows were so well treated they even got given desserts; and a cycle down marine drive, where the novelty of cycling a child’s bike with no functioning brakes was beginning to wear off.

    ... and Amba, guided by boy Hritik. On our way back, we visited the farm – the rice harvest had been done and vegetables had been recently sowed. We got some vegetables plucked straight from the farm for us. In the end, we browsed through the vast nursery operated by Bhumkar and his wife and bought 3 saplings – a Christmas tree, a karipatta and a decoration plant.

    It was a nice experience of a day and worth paying a visit again in summer ...

    ... younger people do things together while children and older adults go rest. This is necessary as the evening ceremonies will go on until 2:00 a.m. I decided I was clearly the older generation.
